On June 9, Facebook's transition to Meta will be complete, with a new ticker symbol.

  • Meta announced on Tuesday that its stock ticker symbol will be changed to "META" before the market opens on June 9.
  • In October, Facebook changed its name to Meta, citing its "growing goals beyond social media" as the reason.
  • Meta announced at the time that its stock ticker would change to "MVRS" on December 1st.

Meta is ready to drop the last vestige of its previous business identity.

The Facebook-owned company stated on Tuesday that its stock ticker symbol will be changed to "META" before the market opens on June 9.

In October, Meta changed its name from Facebook to reflect its goals beyond social networking. Mark Zuckerberg, the company's CEO, is particularly interested in expanding the metaverse, a science fiction word that refers to working and playing in a virtual world.

Meta announced at the time that its stock ticker would change to "MVRS" on December 1st. The corporation said in late November that the move would be postponed until the first quarter of 2022.

Since then, Roundhill Investments has announced that it will no longer use the "META" ticker for its Roundhill Ball Metaverse ETF. Meta was able to take it because of this.

The ticker symbol change does not need any action from the company's shareholders, according to Meta.
